Phillipians

Even though it was written from a prison cell, the letter to the Philippians is one of the most joy-filled and affection-soaked books in all of Scripture. Unlike his other letters, Paul writes not to troubleshoot a church in crisis, but to shepherd a faithful congregation toward deeper gospel maturity. As Gordon Fee observes, “Philippians is a letter of friendship in which Paul’s primary concern is that the gospel continue to advance through a united and faithful people.” From the opening prayer to the final benediction, Paul shows us that the gospel does not merely save us from sin, it shapes us into a people whose shared life together displays Christ to the world.
