In the prologue to his gospel, the apostle John wrote in 1:12, “But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were not born of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Becoming a child of God is not about biology or ethnicity and neither is it something we can will ourselves to become and neither is it something that someone else can will us to become. Becoming a child of God, gaining citizenship in His kingdom comes by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
