Even though we are weak in our flesh and struggle with innate desires, we know that God loves us. It is important for followers of Jesus to understand that, in Christ, the world has no power over us other than what we allow it to have. In Christ, the flesh has no power over us other than what we allow it to have. We cannot tame Behemoth or defeat Leviathan on our own. But in Christ, they have already been defeated.

Reflection
What areas of your life are susceptible to pride? As you think about the influences in your life, what are some of the things that cause you to doubt God’s love or to wonder whether or not He is even paying attention? Why is it a good idea to allow God to search our hearts for unconfessed sin? Read Romans 2:4 and think about what it means for the kindness of God to lead us to repentance. What worldly systems have influenced your life? Are those systems stirring your affections for Christ or robbing you of your affections for Christ? Are there things that you must die to in order for Christ to be exalted in your life? Ask him to make them known to you so that God might position you to be used for the glory of His kingdom.
