In the midst of a discussion on the supremacy of Christ in and to all things, the writer of Hebrews gives us glimpses of the gospel of grace. This gospel is the solution to our biggest problems in life, everything from death to the devil. Yet, because of the nature of the gospel, it is also the solution to our day-to-day trials and temptations. Christ sympathizes with our weaknesses and invites us
to approach Him with confidence and boldness through faith in His finished work.

For further consideration:
In what ways do the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit act for our salvation? How does God’s gift of salvation to us magnify the glory of God in us? What does it look like for believers to glorify God at work or at home? What are some things in your life that could change that would improve your ability to magnify the Lord? Do you find yourself underestimating the devil? What about overestimating him? How should Christ’s victory over the devil affect our view of the enemy? When it comes to death, while we all may have a little reluctance, are you fearful of it? How can the gospel calm fears about death? Do you regularly look back to the temptations and sufferings of Jesus to help you fight against your temptations? What is it that you are most looking forward to when it comes the future of sharing in the fulness of God’s glory?
