If God exacts retribution against those who break the old covenant, how much more should we embrace the rescue offered by the new covenant? To neglect this gospel is to drift right past the salvation that God offers. As a church, we must keep the priority of the gospel in front of us. As an individual, we must make the most of the gospel that has been offered. Embrace this salvation. Don’t let it drift by. Pay careful attention to it. Your eternal life depends on it.

For further consideration:
What are some things in your life that make it difficult for you to hear God’s message? What do you frequently entertain that distracts you from hearing His Word and tempts you to drift? How does the local church help us fight spiritual drift? How has the disconnect caused by Covid-19 over the past several months impacted your ability to hear and heed the transforming power of the gospel? What does it mean to live in a now-and-not-yet world? How does that tension play out in your life? What questions does it create? How does it develop your faith in the Christ? How can Christ’s superiority in all things help us avoid spiritual drift?
