With Isaac, it was “love at first sight,” but what did Jesus see in us that He should want us to be His bride? We were rebellious sinners with no beauty or merit to boast about, and yet Jesus loved us and died for us. Rebekah had received a few gifts from Isaac, but once married, she possessed all that he possessed. Their lives were one, and so it is with Christ and His church.
